Barrier-free access to the ZHB
The ZHB is generally accessible without barriers.

The entrance to the ZHB is an automatic barrier-free door.
There is wheelchair-accessible shelving and barrier-free access to all public areas of the ZHB.
Barrier-free access is provided to all technical equipment - self-checkout terminals, photocopiers, printers, Book-Eyes, research PCs, interactive displays with touch screens, etc.
The service desk and information desk are also accessible.
There is a barrier-free snack vending machine with cold drinks and various snacks in the cloakroom in the entrance area of the ZHB.
The ZHB has one barrier-free restroom in the entrance area.

Media can be conveniently searched, reserved and renewed electronically from home via the catalog and the discovery system. A valid user account is required for this.
Open stacks can be collected from the shelves. If you need help with this, the staff at the information desk and the service desk will be happy to assist you.
Lendable media from the closed stacks have to be pre-ordered via the catalog / discovery system and can be collected from the service desk the following day.
There is a barrier-free cloakroom with lockers on the first floor of the ZHB. Further barrier-free lockers are located on the 2nd floor middle and north and in the basement south.
It is also possible to rent a permanent locker free of charge for a longer period of time to lock up lent media and private work materials in the ZHB.
The staff at the information desk on the 1st floor will be happy to assist you if you need help and support.

A height-adjustable computer workstation for library users with visual impairments is available in the reading room of the ZHB:
The following positions are provided:
- a screen workstation with special software and a reading/room camera with the highest image resolution,
- a black keyboard with white capital letters,
- a mouse for right- and left-handed users,
- headphones for a read-aloud function/speech output
- and a Braille control program.
A printing facility is currently being set up.
